Hi Guys,
I decided to write a little article which will make your life easier when reinstalling windows.I hear alot of people on the forums having issues with windows update just after reinstalling Windows XP. This is a method I use and it came from Microsoft Support Page.

After you do a clean Windows XP install you have to install lots of updates. I recommend the first thing you do is turn off windows update.

Then go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download the updates manually.

So why disable automatic updates?
If you have automatic updates on, it silently downloads and installs the updates. Manually installing the updates through windowsupdate.microsoft.com in my experience is quicker and you can monitor whats installing.

The Problem
If you dont turn off windows updates and install updates manually them the info below will help you. If you have automatic update on, windows is downloading and installing updates silently. If you decide to manually installing the updates at the same time issues arise sometimes.

So for example if you install 50 updates manually through windowsupdate.microsoft.com what can happen is the windows update will not knowladge some of the installed updates and continually notifys you of this.

It may even stop you from installing updates which it thinks are install but are not

This is a headache.

Solution
Open the Command Prompt window. To do this, click Start, click Run, type cmd
type net stop wuauserv
type regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wups2.dll
type net start wuauserv

Reboot the system and the updates should reinstall correctly or show as installed.

So recently I had a few broken hard drives, before dropping them off at the recycling centre I decided to do a little experiment.

I always wondered whats in that little hardrive case.

Well here’s a video of a desktop hard drive starting up with no cover.

This hard drive came out of a computer I fixed. The hardrive turns on as you see but could not be recognized when plugged into the PC.

Luckly my client had all there important files backed up, which I always recommend.

So if you havent already go get yourself an external hardrive and back those files up.

Not the most exciting video but interesting all the same.
